Set by the Cameron Day Charitable Trust, I was tasked with building a project from just three words: Do The Opposite. My response challenges how we define economic success in the UK, and proposes a new way of measuring it.

The UK’s economy is growing, but national well-being is falling. GDP dominates as a measure of progress, yet it ignores what truly matters: health, time, connection, and quality of life. We’re measuring success with the wrong tools.

This year, the UK dropped to 23rd in The World Happiness Report, our lowest ranking on record. While GDP continues to rise, happiness continues to fall. Perhaps we it's time we began to measure what truly matters.

Solution
While I recognise that a nation cannot be measured by happiness alone, there is a case for introducing a more human-centric approach to the UK’s economic model. This project uses the visual language of traditional finance, using the aesthetic and tone of institutional systems to present an alternative narrative.
