HELLO

HELLO

My name is Matt and I am 23 years old. As of 2025, I am a graduate from Loughborough University, which feels kind of scary to say. I am a self proclaimed creative entrepreneur, founder at Hauze and full time creative at a defence-tech startup, Sentinel Photonics.

In my final year of university, I was lucky enough to work part time as an in-house creative at Sentinel Photonics. After graduating, I joined full-time, which has given me the chance to travel, meet some really interesting people, and design for the marketing team in a fast-paced environment.

i don't just design for work

i don't just design for work

I don't just design commercially - I enjoy doing personal projects too. I've recently enjoyed working with ink and letters (something I did a lot of during my foundation year), and even went as far as creating my own business cards by hand for my graduation show and the D&AD Newblood festival, with each card having a unique design.

When I'm not designing things - I'm usually out taking pictures. If not, you'll find me Snowboarding or Olympic Weightlifting, although my camera is never that far away.

sometimes i like to read

sometimes i like to read

I read all sorts of stuff, mostly design books, plenty of business books, and the odd biography too - my favourite book to date is Shoe Dog, by Phil Knight, but if you bump into me, chances are I’ll have a copy of Phil Cleaver’s What They Didn’t Teach You in Design School in my bag.

I draw inspiration from many people, but Chris Ashworth has been a defining influence. My route into design was unconventional, and his work played a key role in making me fall in love with graphic design. I was fortunate to see him speak, meet him, and get a signed book during his Birmingham visit in 2025.

I’m also inspired by agency leaders like Simon Dixon, who I had the opportunity to speak with during a mentorship session, and by Ben Robb, my first graphic design tutor and long-time mentor. Ben taught me how to think like a designer and to never settle for the first idea, always pushing for better.

have a fun fact

have a fun fact

During my second year of uni, my best mate Shaun and I were fundraising to climb Kilimanjaro (which we were doing to raise money for Dig Deep, a charity that installs taps in remote regions of Kenya). So we opened a water vendor at the King's Coronation - which gained some traction and landed us an interview on Italian News.

some creative highlights

The highlight of my creative journey so far has to be my final year degree show, where I was lucky enough to get some recognition for the projects I did in final year, which I will forever be grateful for. It was great to see my friends getting rewarded for their hard work as well, with some of them picking up some really cool awards too.
